There are plenty of things to do in Lynton and Lynmouth to fill your holiday hours

There are walks galore from Longmead House. Many of our guests don’t get in their cars between arriving and departing at the end of their stay with us! We can loan you OS maps of the area and are happy to suggest many different routes from our front door. The South West Coast Path, Tarka Trail and Two Moors Way all pass through and can form the basis of some spectacular circular day walks.

Valley of Rocks

A spectacular rock-strewn dry valley inhabited by wild goats (as featured on BBC Countryfile) and Exmoor ponies. Fantastic for walks!

There are plenty of interesting shops, restaurants, cafes etc in Lynton and Lynmouth. There is also a bank, chemist, cottage hospital and tourist information centre. A petrol station can be found nearby in Barbrook (1 mile).

Cliff Railway is a masterpiece of Victorian ingenuity and a very interesting way to travel down the hill to Lynmouth harbour and back again.

Lynton Cinema

Lynton has a small 68 seat cinema which shows current release films just a few minutes’ walk from Longmead House..

Watersmeet is a beautiful National Trust secluded valley with Victorian hunting lodge (now a tea room) waterfalls and riverside walks.

Lynton & Barnstaple Railway

Real steam trains on this short stretch of track at Woody Bay Station. This narrow gauge track used to link Lynton with the town of Barnstaple in the last century.
